I have loved horses as long as I can remember.  According to my parents, a version of horsey was my first word. I started riding lessons when I was 13, and really haven’t quit since!

When I graduated from high school, I worked for a dressage professional as a working student while I did my undergrad schooling. I stayed with her for almost 17 years, taking a bit of time here and there to concentrate on school, grieve the death of a horse, and a couple other life situations.

I’ve audited clinics, been a groom, done a little bit of showing and TONS of reading and asking questions.  I also feel that I have been through so much. They have helped me grow in so many ways. I have one of the greatest and most patient trainers ever, who understands both horses and people. She is my mentor and inspiration. I feel that I am a perpetual student of horses, and love the journey!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (state of MI)

Dressage is my passion. I love the connection with the horse and the beauty of well-executed riding. I’ve spent a lot of years working with horses that were retraining projects. Getting them to relax, move better and watch the physical changes as their muscles develop is very rewarding, and I really enjoy it. I like learning new and/or different ways to work with horses, but I always end up coming back to my dressage basics.

I have 4 horses and 1 pony—who really thinks he’s a horse. They each have a very special place in my heart and their own special purpose.

How many horses do you have?

What kind of training are you interested in?

Are you a therapist?

What is your horse background?

Yes, with specialized lessons, you can work on your rider’s position, issues and core beliefs all at the same time. Over-coming apprehensions, eliminating obstacles and making new choices are all possible with some processing and education as you ride.

I already know how to ride. Can I still benefit from what you do?

Working with people and their horses is really combining two of the things I love doing best in the world. I am not only passionate about working with horses, I thoroughly enjoy witnessing people becoming empowered and excited about their lives.

How do your professional and horse backgrounds come together in what you do?

Absolutely!! Adult beginners are welcome.

I have no horse experience; will you still work with me?

In so many ways. Learning about and being around horses can help with depression and anxiety. Couple that with processing and insights about your issues and core beliefs for a powerful way to make a difference in your life. Things that you learn about working with a horse will spill over into the rest of your life. Rather than sitting inside an office, or reading a shelf full of self-help books, improve your life while hanging around horses.
